I’ve been asked many times, what is the best spray gun when on a tight budget. And I totally understand not wanting to spend 600 to 900 bucks on a spray gun to use it a couple of times per year. There are some cheap guns out there that are….well cheap…they are not worth 10 buck as far as I am concerned. But there is a cheap gun under the $150 range that sprays pretty darn well. This is the Sharpe FX 3000.
We have used this gun to spray primer sealer, base coat, and clear coat with outstanding results. So for a spray gun on a budget, the Sharpe FX 3000 with a 1.3 fluid tip and needle is what I would recommend.
One thing I don’t like about this gun is that it has an o-ring behind the fluid tip. If you happen to take the fluid tip out for cleaning, then care must be taken to not let the o-ring fall out and lose it. This is probably not that big of an issue it’s your personal gun, but this is a pain in a school setting where many different students are using the spray gun and they put the gun back together without putting the o-ring back in.
If you are looking for one spray gun to spray your base coat and clear coat that does not cost a fortune, then I recommend this spray gun. We have test it for both b/c and c/c and it works excellent.
If you’re on a budget, this is the gun I would want. It has sprayed some awesome paint jobs and will definitely get the job done. I prefer a 1.3 mm tip for both base coat and clear coat, which this gun has. On Sale for under $130, you can’t beat it.
