5.  After doing the bondo work I’ve come to this stage where I should spray the primer.  Do I spray the epoxy first?


Your Answer:  A.  Epoxy should alway be applied before applying primer surfacer.

That is not correct.  Epoxy work great for adhesion and corrosion protection, but if there is no bare metal, this step can be skipped.  There are also other primers, such as self etching primer that can be used instead of epoxy primer on bare metal.

Here is how I answered the question: The epoxy is for the bare metal.  However, you can spray it over your body filler too.  Next, spray primer surfacer.  You do not have to sand the epoxy before applying the surfacer, if you don’t wait too long.  If you wait past the window time, you will need to scuff epoxy before applying the surfacer.  The surfacer is what will fill scratch and provide a good coating for sanding.
