4.  What kind of sandpaper should be used for getting a car ready for paint?

(This question was asked  fr0m a video demonstrating how to final sand by hand wet sanding.


Your Answer:  B.  Use the coarsest sandpaper that will not leave sand marks after painting the surface.  The point is to rough the surface with the least amount of effort.

That is correct.  The purpose is to rough up the surface to provide adhesion for the paint to stick to.  The most productive and effective method is to use a grit that will achieve this with the least amount of effort.   And without the sand scratches showing through the painted surface.

Here is how I answered the question: Wet/Dry 400-600 grit.  I prefer 400 for wet sanding by hand.  I prefer 400 when sanding by hand.
