to cover the metal surface, helps with corrision and/or rust.
Weld through primer is a zinc rich coating that will conduct current from a MIG welder, making it possible to join panels and will provide corrosion protection on lap joints and on inner panel surfaces. This is especially important on lap welded seams as the overlaid panels create an area that is ideal for rust to start (a water trap). Whenever possible, apply a coat of weld through primer to both sides of any panels that are to be sectioned.
Weld-through primer should be placed so it surrounds all welds. The primary function of weld-through primer is to melt into the edge of welds. Because of its limited adhesive properties, it should not be placed, or left in place, on any surface that will later be refinished.
